MONTHLY CHANCE MEETINGS

Monday, August 4th, 5 - 7 pm @ The Virginian

Sometimes all you need is the right connection and a little inspiration. Well, what are you waiting for?  Find both at our free monthly networking event. You never know...

The Buddha's first noble truth alludes to the fact that we cannot escape difficulties and setbacks in life. This is all the more true for the high performers that call the Tetons home. Whether in business, outdoor pursuits or personal growth, when we seek to excel we inevitably come into contact with these setbacks and difficulties. Some of us have learned to rely on harsh self-criticism, perfectionism, workaholism or other potentially harmful traits to continue to excel and achieve. This workshop introduces the power of self-compassion to quiet the inner, restore balance, and sustain motivation from a place of kindness and encouragement, not fear. We will learn that self-compassion isn't an indulgent weakness, but a tool to build resilience, protect your wellbeing, and sustain peak performance. Take your business and life to the next level with the edge of self-kindness.

Hunter is an International Coaching Federation member coach and graduate of the two year Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program. At Flourish JH Hunter specializes in one-on-one coaching to foster individual flourishing and workshops with teams to develop resilience and self-compassion. He has worked with diverse groups from local sports teams to corporate teams at UBER.

CREATING POSSIBILITY: THE WONDER INSTITUTE SUMMER UPDATE

Building Shared Creative Spaces Across the Valley

There’s a creative groundswell happening in Jackson—and The Wonder Institute is at the heart of it. The Wonder Institute is one of the newest additions to our TEAMS program, and we’re proud to support their mission to empower creatives. Through their work, they’re helping entrepreneurs build businesses while also providing community space and resources for learning and creating—ranging from silversmithing and woodworking to sewing, robotics, and more.

Here’s what’s taking shape:

🧵 Rip n Stitch is building out a public sewing studio, offering creative tools and opportunities for the community to repair, design, and make.

💍 Olivtrees Silversmithing is hosting public classes and preparing to install a fully equipped public silversmithing studio, generously donated to The Wonder Institute. This space will offer hands-on access to tools and mentorship—supporting creativity, skill-building, and entrepreneurship.

🏫 We are entering into a consulting agreement with Central Wyoming College to expand access to CTE (Career & Technical Education) throughout the valley—building real pathways from school to career for Jackson youth.

🖨️ Sixteen brand-new 3D printers were just delivered to the TCSD office. This fall, we’ll begin training teachers across the district, ensuring more students can access design, engineering, and digital fabrication tools.

From robotics to woodworking, sewing to silversmithing, The Wonder Institute is building shared creative spaces that connect people across generations and backgrounds—and empower communities to learn, make, and thrive together.

📣 Want to get involved? Visit wonderinstitute.org, come volunteer, or help us grow this creative network across the Mountain West.

Theme: The Marketing Trifecta: Authentic Branding, Compelling Content, and Customer Connection

Join us on Monday July 7th from 5-7 pm at Highpoint Cider in Victor, ID for a dynamic panel exploring the evolving landscape of modern marketing through the lens of the powerful trifecta: authentic branding, compelling content, and meaningful customer connection. Marketing experts and entrepreneurs Erica Rice, Emily Bryne, and Lane Valiante will dive into how brand and content strategies have shifted over the past five years, and how businesses can better align brand identity with both short-term goals and long-term equity. You’ll hear real-world examples of what happens when branding and execution align—and when they don’t—as well as tools and frameworks for balancing creativity with consistency across channels.

This conversation will be especially valuable for small businesses and founders navigating limited resources. Panelists will share practical guidance on how to prioritize brand clarity, select the right marketing channels, and build content that resonates with audiences and reinforces brand values.

HONORING PETER VAN GENDEREN

It's with great sadness that we share the news of Peter Van Genderen's recent passing. Peter worked closely with Britt Walters, SC Director of Entrepreneurship, as a devoted TEAMS mentor.

"I had the privilege of working with Peter over the last three years. He was an extraordinary mentor; someone who not only listened with intention but also guided with care and compassion," says Britt.  "Peter genuinely cared about the people he mentored, and it showed in every conversation.

"Beyond mentoring, Peter generously gave his time to serve on our mentorship program’s committee, where he helped review applications, interview potential mentors and mentees, and acted as my trusted sounding board. He brought thoughtfulness, dedication, and some fun to every part of the process.

"Peter would show up to each interview with a warm, genuine smile that immediately set people at ease. He had a way of opening conversations with light, relatable stories, often sharing how he grew up in what is now the Café Genevieve cabin, and reflecting on how he wished he’d had access to the kinds of resources available to today’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. His passion for supporting others was deeply felt and always came through with authenticity. That was Peter, wholehearted, humble, and deeply impactful. He showed up fully in everything he did, and made you feel seen, heard, and valued.

"After more than three years of working together, saying “I’ll miss him” doesn’t begin to capture the loss. Peter made a lasting mark on this community and on me personally. I’m so grateful to have known him, and his legacy will continue in the lives he touched so generously."

PHASE 2 IN MOTION FOR STARTUP WYOMING

We are pleased to announce that The Wyoming Business Council (WBC) and Silicon Couloir unveiled the StartUp Wyoming Phase 1 Gap Analysis and Implementation Plan and formally approved Phase 2 of the StartUp Wyoming initiative at the WBC's quarterly board of directors meeting in Casper last week. This marks a critical milestone in building a stronger, more connected startup ecosystem across the state.

Read more about the announcement, and download the full report here

A public webinar led by StartUp Wyoming Director Blossom Ko Lumley, who will shepherd the initiative from Phase 1 to 2, will be held on Friday, June 6 at 10 a.m. The webinar will provide an overview of the report, a timeline of upcoming programming, and allow participants to engage in community Q&A. Register for the webinar HERE.
