Chance Meetings Is Monday, January 6th: Mentors In Action—Insight Into The TEAMS Approach

MONTHLY CHANCE MEETINGS

Monday, January 6, 2020 - 5-7 pm @ The Rose (50 West Broadway)

Sometimes all you need is the right connection and a little inspiration. Well, what are you waiting for? Come find both at our free monthly networking event. You never know...

Theme: Mentors in Action — Insight into the TEAM Approach

TEAMS, our world-class mentoring program formed to accelerate the development of entrepreneurs in the Teton region has, in the past 18 months, become the cornerstone of Silicon Couloir's programs. From our May 2018 pilot of six ventures and sixteen mentors, we have grown to serve 18 local ventures with 36 expert mentors.

TEAMS is based on the proven MIT Venture Mentor Services program. Each selected venture is assigned a team of three to five mentors with one lead mentor. The group mentoring model has shown to be extremely effective for entrepreneurs as a variety of insights, opinions, and strategies are offered by a team of mentors, each of whom has different expertise and experience. The result is a dynamic, multi-faceted mentoring session.

To kick off the new year, we will offer a taste of the TEAMS model to Chance Meeting attendees. Six of our seasoned mentors will show the team mentoring model in action by taking audience member questions relating to their business. Four audience members will be be given a seven-minute mini-mentor session.  So bring your business questions, challenges, and problems and gain new perspectives. Please note that any question or problem posed to the mentor panel should not contain confidential company information or the names of individuals.

NEWS AND NOTES

Happy New Year To the Silicon Couloir Family

To Everyone in the WYIDaho region,

2019 was a year of change and exciting growth for Silicon Couloir. We fully instituted our TEAMS Mentor program, growing to nearly 40 mentors supporting 20 entrepreneurial ventures; we improved our Cowork Space to make it even more inviting to anyone who wants to utilize an affordable, professional and collegial work environment; we put on our best Pitch Day yet, highlighting incredible entrepreneurs and companies; and I was fortunate to take over the reigns as Silicon Couloir’s first full-time Executive Director.

We are looking forward to more growth and change in 2020 as we seek to fully align our programs with community caretaking to promote a diverse regional economy and work towards ensuring we support the things that make this place so special.

We could not achieve what we have – and what we will – without your support, financial and otherwise. Our goal is to provide free access to all of our programs, thereby making them accessible to everyone. As a nonprofit, your backing makes all the difference.

So, thanks to our Board, our Staff, our Trustees, our Mentors, our partners, and most of all, anyone out there who is willing to take risks to follow their dreams.

And from all of us at Silicon Couloir to all of you, we wish you a happy, successful, and meaningful New Year ahead.

We had another wonderful Holiday Party Mixe'd Media with the National Wildlife Museum of Wildlife Art to close out the year. Entrepreneurs celebrated the art and creativity of their ventures with interactive activities. It was a memorable evening of inspiration and holiday cheer!

Start the New Year Rested and Ready for Success

Studies show that sleep is a vital part of success.  Instead of burning the candle at both ends, find out why prioritizing your sleep will help you be more successful in your business.   In this lunch and learn, I'll be going beyond basic sleep hygiene tips and getting into the nitty-gritty science of why you wake up in the night and have a hard time going back to sleep.  If you haven't been able to get a good night's sleep for a long time (even decades), you'll learn why and, more importantly, what you can do to fix it.

New Membership Options and Prices for
The Cowork Space

We are pleased to announce that the daily drop-In rate at the Cowork space will decrease from $35 to $27.50 starting January 1st. If you have friends or business associates in town who just need a day or two of quality access or want to try the Cowork space out, this is a great price.

Also starting  in 2020, we will be offering a brand new punch card that will include 10 days a year for $200. A great option for part-time resident or traveling entrepreneur.

2019 improvements to the Cowork Space include:

  • Enlarged and remodeled the conference room and added a conferencing phone
connection, 55” monitor, webcam, and direct ethernet connections to enhance most any type of digital conference meeting.

  • New printers.

  • Improved connectivity throughout the space.

  • Additional conference/presentation capabilities to be competed by the new year.
