Meet the People Who Make Silicon Couloir a Success

A new feature of our monthly newsletter will be to share the stories and impacts Silicon Couloir has in the Teton region entrepreneurial ecosystem. This month, we will featureDavid Hopkins, TEAMS mentor and Trustee, and Bob Fuziak of Arms Reach Essentials, a thriving local company that creates deluxe organizers that securely keeps bedside essentials within arm's reach.

David Hopkins reflects on TEAMS:
"No budding entrepreneur need pine for a bigger stage than the one they have in Jackson, WY. The TEAMS program has attracted an experienced and diverse team of mentors from millennials to retirees and many ages in between. As mentors, we donate the benefit of all our business experiences, and the life lessons we have enjoyed, to the entrepreneurs accepted by the program. Equally important though, are the experiences we gain by listening to the amazing diversity of new business ideas from the entrepreneurs. A win-win for everyone."

David and his wife Debby moved to Jackson Hole from the San Francisco Bay Area in late 2017. Formerly president of a manufacturing firm and a consultant in several industries, David focuses on providing General Management, and Sales and Marketing services to aid firms through market, product, technology, and generational changes. Prior to running his own consulting firm David worked in the high technology and automotive industries, primarily in international marketing, for more than 30 years, and in banking prior to that.

Bob Fuziak on his Silicon Couloir experience:
"Silicon Couloir's programs have been fundamental in helping me develop my businesses. I graduated from The Start-Up Intensive in 2015 and I think it is an amazing program. The course materials can be applied not only the business you are working on during class, but all future projects and to your life."

"I was fortunate to be selected to Pitch Day twice for two different companies; Hind-Sight Industries (2015) and ArmsReach Essentials (2018). Pitch Day coaching sessions are tough. They take place over many weeks and each session has a different panel of experts. Sometimes you get conflicting advice, but it's good to have perspective from all angles. Ultimately it is up to the Founder, CEO, etc. to weigh the opinions and proceed how they think it's best for the company. This is true for the Pitch Day competition and also for the company decisions made after Pitch Day, based on the wealth of knowledge gained during the coaching sessions."

Arm's Reach Essentials has been so successful that they have sold thousands of Night Caddies and in 2018 sold out of stock 3 times in 6 months! Bob is also working with a firm to license Hind-Sight Industries' wearable technology patents.

The purpose of Angel Group is to connect local and regional companies with investors. Silicon Couloir aims to hold regular Angel Group meetings each quarter. Companies interested in applying can find more information here.
