Cynthia L. Blankenship

Geologist

Board of Directors, Silicon Couloir

President, Geologists of Jackson Hole

Cynthia received her BS in Geology from Duke University, and her MA in Geology from Rice University. She joined BP in 1989 where she worked first as a Geologist, and then in increasingly higher levels of management in Upstream Oil & Gas. Over her 27 years with BP she worked domestically and internationally, and managed billion-dollar Exploration, Development and Production Operations. She also played a key role in the Deepwater Horizon accident response and the subsequent Gulf of Mexico business recovery.

Geology is fundamental to finding and developing the most prolific hydrocarbon accumulations. Engineering and business skills are key to doing so safely, efficiently and profitably.  Since retiring to Jackson Hole with her family in 2016 Cynthia continues to pursue her dual passions: geology and business. She has been involved with Silicon Couloir as a board member, TEAMS mentor and investor. And she is actively building a business that includes teaching and consulting on the geology of Jackson Hole.
